Spice Glaze

1 c powdered sugar
1/4 t nutmeg
1/4 t cinnamon
dash of cloves

Combine all ingredients in small bowl and mix. Add 3 to 4 T of hot water to create glaze consistency. Drizzle over cooled bread and enjoy!!!

Spicy Pumpkin Loaf

3 3/4 c flour
2 t baking soda
2 t cinnamon
1 t salt
1 t nutmeg
1/2 t ginger
1/2 t ground cloves
2 sticks butter
2 c sugar
4 eggs
16 oz can of pumpkin
12 oz pkg of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees adn grease 2 9x5 loaf pans. Combine dry ingredients (except for sugar) in a bowl and set aside. Place softened butter and sugar in bowl and cream well. Blend in eggs and beat. At low speed add dry ingredients alternately with pumpkin, until mixed. Add chocolate chips and nuts if desired and mix well.

Pour mixture into loaf pans and bake for 1 hour. Cool, then drizzle with the spice glaze above. Bread will slice better after a day.

Wheat Bread

2 1/2 c hot water from your tap (not hotter than 112 degrees)
1/4 c sugar
2 T yeast
4 T shortening
1 T salt
6 c whole wheat flour or 7 cups white flour

Combine water, sugar, and yeast. Let rest until yeast becomes soft and frothy. Add shortening, salt, and 2c flour. Stir until well blended. Add enough flour to prepare your dough for kneading. Knead in remaining flour. Let rest until dough is double in size (up to an hour). Punch down and divide dough in half. Each half with make one loaf or a dozen rolls. For loaf roll out into rectangle then roll into loaf size. Place in grease pan and let rest until desired loaf size (will not rise much more in baking). For rolls divide each half into fourths then each fourth into thirds. Take each piece knead again in hand and form into a roll. Place in a greased 9 x 13 pan and let rest until dough rises to desired size. Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes. Tops should be a toasty golden brown.

Apple Crisp

10 c thinly sliced apples
1 c white sugar
1 T all-purpose flour
1 t ground cinnamon
1/2 c water
1 c quick-cooking oats
1 c packed brown sugar
1/4 t baking soda
1/2 c butter, melted

Preheat oven to 350. Place apples in a 9x13 inch pan. Mix the white sugar, flour and cinnamon together and sprinkle of apples. Combine oats, 1 c flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and melted butter together. Crumble evenly over the apple mixture. Bake for 45 minutes.

*Cindy used dehydrated apples from her food storage for this recipe, everyone was shocked to find out. So here is a great way to use those apples you have stored away.

Tuna Noodle Casserole

2-3 C dry noodles - boil
Mix in:
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 small can chopped mushrooms
1 small can chopped olives
2/3 c evaporated milk
dried onions about 1 t
Italian seasoning 1 t
1/3 c Parmesan cheese

Grease a casserole dish and place mixture in dish. Top with crushed potato chips and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and paprika for a little color. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes, until hot.

Applesauce Cake

2 1/2 c whole wheat flour, finely ground
2 c sugar
2 T dried whole egg, sifted
1 1/2 t salt
1 1/2 t baking soda
1/4 t baking powder
1/4 t cinnamon
1/4 nutmeg
1 1/2 c applesauce
1/2 c shortening
3/4 c water
1 c raisins
1/2 c chopped walnuts
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl; beat with mixer at medium speed for 3 minutes (450 strokes by hand with whisk). Pour into greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees fro 60-65minutes until cake is done (toothpick inserted in center comes out clean). Cool. Frost or serve topped with applesauce and imitation whipped cream.

Try a maple glaze on top: 6T powdered sugar, sifted and 3-4 T maple syrup. Stir until smooth. Drizzle over top.
